I help others fight poverty. Now it’s me in need.

Help me raise a one-off $9,580 to get my family back on its feet.

I am a farmer in eastern Uganda. I come from a rather challenging background.

I have, however, decided to be a changemaker in my region, and I am the founder of the Uganda Community Farm (UCF), a nonprofit fighting extreme poverty.

But because I am also only emerging from total poverty, there are times when it becomes very difficult to support myself & my family, besides the work of the UCF. That is exactly the situation I am in right now. I am finding it very hard to keep my family on its feet. Think of me as a doctor who finds himself in need of other doctors’ help!

How I ended up here:

Normally, I earn some money from the crops that I grow myself at the UCF, but this year has been different. This year, I haven’t earned any money due to several factors; in particular droughts and the fact that our sorghum project, where I train other farmers in our region to grow white sorghum, is on a standstill due to financial constraints.

As a result, I currently do not have any money to support my family, and my two kids who will be going back to school this month of Sept 2025, besides the UCF’s work.

Please be the other doctor:

If you can lend me a hand, you will not only be helping my family escape hardship, you will also become the doctor who is enabling me to continue my work of supporting other rural poor farmers in our region of Busoga, which also happens to be Uganda’s poorest.

The $9,580 that I am asking you to help me raise will specifically be used to meet my family’s basic needs, not the UCF’s work, but it is what will enable me to build the UCF.

Impact of the $9,580 at the personal, family and community level.

My current financial hardship isn’t permanent, but it is certainly distressing.

This money, if raised, will relieve a lot of stress that I am currently going through. With this money, I will be able to provide basic needs for my family; take my two kids back to school (this September), and to start a side business to build financial independence.

At the community level, this money, though personal, will enable me devote my full energy on building the UCF’s work once again, once my own personal distress is gone.

Breakdown of the $9,580.

This money will be spent on three (3) things:

1).  Basic needs for my family. I will use part of this money to stock at least a year’s worth of basic needs for my family, from toilet paper to soap. Cost: $1946

2). Tuition for my two kids. I have two kids who attend a school in Uganda’s capital Kampala, and this time, I have no way of paying their tuition. Cost: $1214

3). Creating a financial safety net. I will use part of this money to start a side business — specifically, a small grocery store in Kamuli town — both to build financial independence and to create a safety net for my family in times like these. Cost: $6,420.

A detailed budget breakdown of how this money will be used is in this PDF.
