Once the installation of our facility begins, we will have several on-site activities lasting only days, and those lasting weeks. This means even that possibilist who only has a few days to stay here can contribute. But overall, here are 4 things you will help with:

 

1) In-house technical help.

This facility will be installed by a technical team from Alvan Blanch UK (or Cimbria if we raise enough support). But before these people arrive, we will need to first make a few preliminary site preparations. Even after they have arrived, our own team will still need to do some basic brainstorming on what works best, and there is no better person to do this with than the people who are directly helping us raise support for this facility.

In other words, by working with us here in Kamuli, you will not only be helping us get this facility installed, but also, you will form our inhouse technical team whose ideas the installation team will build on, especially those of you from an engineering background.

 

2) Gathering construction materials.

Another thing you can help with is gathering locally-available construction materials, and coordinating with our plant equipment suppliers to arrange transportation of equipment to our site. This means anyone, even those with no engineering background, can help.

 

3) Providing casual labor at the construction site.

Please see on our volunteers page photos of the casual labor that a team of students from Edinburgh University provided during the construction of our project office in 2016.

 

4) Co-management of the facility’s finances from start to finish.

We want to handle all the money we are raising for this facility together with everyone who will be with us on-site, from paying for equipment to accounting for every penny.

On our part, this means we do not have to manage large sums alone (amid strict regulations by the Uganda government). On the side of our supporters, it will ensure everyone knows exactly how the money we are raising for this facility has been spent.

Also: if you are someone who plans to be with us onsite during the installation of this facility, but also intend to help us raise part of the needed funding, we recommend that you come with your contribution in person, so we can allocate it together with you.

Similarly, we also encourage our supporters to pay our equipment suppliers directly so they can simply come and install this facility for us. We want people to contribute to this facility using the methods we have mentioned here only if the above options aren’t a fit.
